Stakeholder Engagement

Research also needs to reach beyond policymakers to include other stakeholders, including industry and the public at large. It is beneficial to these groups to know what kind of research is being conducted and how it might affect business and society, but it is also important for researchers to understand the needs of industry and the public in a wide variety of research contexts and policy areas. This engagement can take various passive or active forms, from public lectures and events to lab visits to directly involving industry or the public in the research itself, as participants or co-researchers themselves.
